In this short article I just want to clarify, and perhaps debunk the binomial homosexuality pathology. Initially homosexuality was considered a disease, an illness like any other. However, it is never found a cure for this disease, either at pathophysiological or psychological level, in fact he never even found out what the real underlying cause of this sexual orientation. Over the years there have been several cases of hormonal, environmental, social, but none seems to be the right one. Today, in 2010, homosexuality is not considered a disease, and say this is not a small group of gay suffering, but the scientific community. The AIP (Italian Association of Psychology) states that " pathologize" homosexuality, improperly invoking the support of the scientific community, is rising homophobia, which is to fight the real disease. The incorrect reference to the psychological literature, sociological or psychiatric is extremely damaging to the effort for years, clinicians and researchers to undertake benefit the mental health of the population, both children (abused or not) of the abusers (yes these really sick ). The AIP therefore calls upon all those who hold important institutional roles, and thus have a decisive weight on public opinion, to pay more attention to scientific research and disseminate its results correctly and cognitive applications. "This statement leaves no room for doubt, homosexuality is a disease and anyone who has not been scientifically proven to the contrary can be argued the opposite view.
